Can fresh spirulina change the minds of microalgae's doubters?

Alum Jonas Guenther came up with the idea for We Are The New Farmers, a company that sells fresh spirulina, while pursuing his master’s degree at NYU Tandon. The group’s original urban farm was constructed in 2016 in the Tandon MakerSpace, but by 2018, the scale of the project necessitated a move to a larger space to house the shallow tanks of algae cultures. “The type of microalgae that we grow is 3.6 billion years old. It’s actually the predecessor to all plant life,” said Guenther.
