Stanley Chu receives national postdoc mentor award

Stanley Chu, a post doctoral researcher under the direction of Jin Kim Montclare, is one of five national finalists for the 2021 Best Postdoc Mentor Award, presented each year by Proteintech Group. Chu, who does research in the Montclare Lab for Protein Engineering and Molecular Design, considers mentorship to be as important a part of work as is his research.

“Stanley's mentorship centers the students, allowing us to develop our own projects and skills. He takes the time even for students who aren't directly assigned to him as mentees,” said a student. 

“As a core part of his job as research, he has lent his skills to students from undergraduates through Ph.D.s and spearheaded new directions of research in our lab, from protein design to tissue culture,” added Montclare.
