- Is this Master’s degree program offered entirely online, or can I take a course on campus?
-
While this program is currently offered in an entirely online format, if you would like to take an on-campus course, you just need an advisor or departmental approval to be registered. While we can’t guarantee acceptance to a specific course, it should in general be very possible to accomplish. Your advisor can help advocate for you in these cases. You will also need to take at least half of the courses in the modality to which you’ve applied (online). Since it’s a 10 course degree, you could take up to six (6) courses online and 4 on-campus.
- Can I take a quantum computing course?
-
Tandon offers a Quantum Computing course, on-campus. You may work with your advisor to determine eligibility. In addition to approval to take an on-campus course, your advisor can also help determine the appropriate pre-requisites for the course.
- How can I identify which concentration is right for my career path?
-
In the Emerging Technologies Master of Science program at NYU Tandon, you will have the freedom to design a unique curriculum engineered by you to match your interests and professional aspirations. You can visit our program homepage to read more about the curricula offerings for each of the 9 concentration areas. You also will have access to academic advisors and enrollment counselors who are always available to help you assess your career goals and help you make the best decision for you. In addition, we can help you schedule time with the program director and the assistant dean to further discuss your options.
- Since this degree program is so flexible, will I have help choosing which courses to take to build out my curriculum?
-
Yes, our dedicated Emerging Technologies academic advisor will be on hand to assist you in deciding which courses are best suited for you, depending on your interest and career goals.
- I’m interested in taking a course(s) not listed on the Emerging Technologies homepage. Will I be allowed to do so?
-
Yes! While 12 credits must be taken in your main concentration area of choice, the remaining 18 credits can be satisfied by electives from other concentrations or other courses as approved by your academic advisor.
- Are there any scholarships available to students in this program?
-
Yes, those who apply for our Emerging Technologies MS program will automatically be considered for limited partial scholarship offered by the program. Applicants for this program are also eligible for our Corporate Partner scholarship, which is a 20% tuition scholarship. You can read more about eligibility for this scholarship at our dedicated Scholarship Programs webpage. Scholarships may not be combined.
- Is the GRE test required for admission?
-
We have waived the GRE requirement for all of our online degree programs. It is now an optional piece of documentation if you would like to upload it, but is not required.
- Are there any prerequisites I need to take before I’m eligible for admission?
-
While there aren't any specific prerequisite admission requirements for this program, the concentration you are interested in will be considered when reviewing your application. For example, if you’re interested in the AI and Machine Learning concentration, the review committee will be looking for the necessary prerequisite knowledge needed to be successful in the concentration courses.
