Derek is a professor at NYU teaching machine learning in finance. He is an alumnus of the Alan Turing Institute, the UK's Institute for Artificial Intelligence, and the Oxford-Man Institute of Quantitative Finance at Oxford University. He has led joint research projects with major banks and quantitative hedge funds. He was a visiting doctoral scholar at NYU's School of Engineering and Cambridge Judge Business School and received his Ph.D. with distinction from the University of Auckland.
