Prof. Bless holds a doctor's degree in Earth and Planetary Sciences from MIT. He has published extensively in shock wave physics, the dynamic behavior of materials, and impact engineering. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society (Shock Compression of Condensed Matter Topical Group) and the International Ballistics Society. Before joining NYU in 2012, he was Chief of the Hypervelocity Impact Laboratory at the University of Texas at Austin.
