Associate Professor Damon McCoy commented on the increase in unwanted solicitations that come via automated text messages rather than phone calls. “Definitely the trend seems to be an increase in the texts. Most phones these days have a feature to suppress unknown numbers when they call you,” said McCoy, noting that, “Texts are a little bit more persistent.”
