Workplace AI vendors, employers rush to set bias auditing bar
Vendors, auditors, employers, and regulators are scrambling to establish standards for bias-proofing the AI tools that companies increasingly use to make employment decisions. Mona Sloane, senior research scientist for NYU Tandon's Center for Responsible AI, cautions against relying on auditing to accomplish this task. “There is no standard for AI audits currently,” she said. “There is a race going on for setting the standard by way of doing it rather than waiting for a government agency to say, ‘This is what an audit of hiring AI should look like.’”
